"BIGGEST WAVES IN THE WORLD TO HIT CORNWALL"...
...Was the big headline for yesterday news and this was according to the surfers website 'Storm Surf' and quite frankly with a promise like that how could I not go and see for my self. So early this morning I headed to Sennen Cove, which is a small costal village in Cornwall and perfect to photograph these gigantic waves. Driving into the car park the sea was looking rough but the waves weren't as big as I first imagined. I felt a little disappointed but I still saw plenty of opportunity for some landscape photographs. However the big waves were still to come because it wasn't until we walked on from the car park that we saw the first big wave smash against the pier and the second much larger wave hit the cliff face further on, filling the air with water droplets. People were already beginning to gather around to watch this natural spectacle, like many others I was watching in awe because I had never seen waves so big in my life. The swell was only like this because it was the aftermath of a 50ft super tide. Having a rough sea can really help create very dramatic landscapes, here is one of the results from today:
